Darvin Leon 'Buddy' Nugent, 68, of Hardin, died Thursday, April 19, 2018, at his residence.
Buddy was born November 6, 1949, to Dennison and Lizzie Smith Nugent in Liberty, TX. On April 23, 1970, Buddy entered the United States Army and became part of the 101st Airborne Division during Vietnam. Buddy earned the Bronze Star Medal for his actions and was honorably discharged on November 14, 1971, receiving the Purple Heart Medal.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years Shirley Warren Nugent. Father, Dennison Nugent daughter, Shauna Nugent, brother, Dennis Nugent, and granddaughter, Ashley Nugent.
Those left to cherish his memory are, mother, Lizzie Joy LeBlanc and husband Eugene of Hardin, daughters, Dorothy King and husband Terry of Hull, Theresa Smith and husband Ron of Hardin, Chenelle Warren and husband Donnie of Shirley, AR, Sherry Jannise and husband Julian of Liberty, and Christan Bauld and husband Benjamin of Dayton, foster daughter, Denise McWilliams of Siloam Springs, AR, brothers, Jack Nugent and wife Carol of Liberty, and Howard Nugent and wife Ruth of Ohio, sister, Helen Roach and husband Robert of Liberty, grandaughter who was more like a daughter, Kala Hendricks and husband Justin of Hardin, grandchildren, Raymond, Amber, Kala, Houston, Tori, and Mikey, and great-grandchildren, Harmony, Paisley, Jase, Haegyn, Kimberlyn, Brooklyn, Jason, Cason, Owen, and Lucas.
A celebration of Buddy's life will be on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at The Pentecostal Tabernacle in Liberty at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Sue Hendricks and Reverend Olyn Hendricks officiating. Interment will follow at Hardin Chapel Cemetery. A gathering of Buddy's family and friends will be Wednesday, April 25, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. also at The Pentecostal Tabernacle in Liberty.
Honoring Buddy as pallbearers will be Donnie Warren, Raymond King, Stephen Speers, Justin Hendricks, Benjamin Bauld, and Houston Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Terry King, Jack Nugent, Howard Nugent, Ron Smith, and Julian Jannise.
