Connie Hart Bennett, 86, died of natural causes in Houma, LA on December 19, 2018. She was born February 3, 1932, to the late Julius Miles 'Jude' Hart and Johnnie Lea Lambert Hart in Batson.
She graduated from Batson High School and after graduation lived in Houston where she played semi-pro basketball for the Houston Rockets. She was married to Homer Ray Bennett for 34 years and enjoyed gardening, baking, dancing on Saturday night, Mardi Gras in Southeast Louisiana, deer and squirrel hunting with her brothers and sons, and her grandchildren, who were the absolute joy in her life.
Mrs. Bennett is preceded in death by her parents, Julius Miles 'Jude' Hart and Johnnie Lea Lambert Hart; her brothers, Lonnie and Jeff Hart; the father of her children, Homer Ray Bennett; and her companion of 25 years, Marshall McCreight.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Randal Ray Bennett and wife Derra, Ernest Lee Bennett, DeeAnna Bennett Beaver and husband Elvin, and Thomas Charles Bennett and wife Lisa; sisters, Betty Watkins and Annie Lorice Hudspeth; brothers, Curtis Hart, Dwain Hart, and Butch Hart; her 19 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of loving friends.
A service of remembrance will be held Saturday, December 22, 2018, at First Baptist Church of Batson at 2:00 P.M.with Reverend Tolbert Hudspeth officiating, interment to follow at Guedry Cemetery. A gathering of Mrs. Bennett's family and friends will be held
from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday, December 21, 2018, also at First Baptist Church of Batson.
