LIBERTY - Cleda Renee Malone of Liberty passed away peacefully at home Sunday, December 27, 2015, surrounded by loving family members.
Ms. Malone, 56, was born June 17, 1959, in Liberty and raised by her mom and dad, the late Sim 'Dutch' Abel and Cleda Abel.
A graduate of Liberty High School, Ms. Malone worked 18 years as a case manager for the local Texas Department of Health and Human Services office followed by several years serving customers at La Enchilada in Hardin.
Known for her huge heart and ability to make others smile, Ms. Malone met many people through work over the years who remain friends. Among her passions was collecting frog decor, everything from whimsical garden statues to salt and pepper shakers and cookie jars. Christmas was one of her favorite holidays and she was known to decorate as many as three trees for her home.
Her family was grateful to have her home for a lovely Christmas together, laughing and playing with her cherished grandchildren.
Ms. Malone is survived by her mother, Patsy Ann Harmon Lock of Liberty; daughter Ami Reynolds Silva of Liberty; son Marcus Malone and wife Tiffany of Austin; sisters Tammy Geter and husband Greg of Liberty, Lana Harmon of Liberty and Lana Kay Williams and husband Charles of Rye, TX; and brothers Charles Harmon and wife Trish of Eureka, MT and Sim 'Bubba' Abel of Broadus, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Grady Daniel Silva of Liberty and Marlie Jean Malone of Austin; nieces, Haley Ann Walker, Courtney Christine Harmon, Andrea 'Andee' Kaitlyn Geter, Sarah Ruth Geter and Jamie Lauren Peak; and nephews William David Gartner, Alan Wayne Gartner, James Curt Gartner, Conner Milton Harmon, Joshua Logan Geter, Grant Monroe Geter and Chad Anthony Geter.
The family wishes to thank the generosity of Houston Methodist San Jacinto Hospital Pink Heals Endowment Fund, which provided support to Ms. Malone during her battle with cancer. A memorial service will not be held at this time.
