Charles Edward Watson, 66, of Batson, Texas died on the morning of Thursday, January 2, 2014 at his son's home in Cedar Park, Texas after fighting a battle with cancer over the last several months.
Charles 'Uncle Chuck' was the beloved father of Christopher Watson of Fort Worth, Texas and William 'Bill' Watson of Cedar Park, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father Lois and Charles Watson of Batson, Texas; sisters Kaye LeFrance of Bastrop, Texas, Sheila Watson and brother Randy Watson of Batson, Texas.
He is survived by sisters Margaret Hawkins of Memphis, Tennessee and Brenda Robbins of Byhalia, Mississippi, nephews Mike Chandler of Daisetta, Texas and Daniel Struble of Batson Texas, niece Jackie Jackson of Batson, Texas and many more nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren Christopher, Kayla, Joshua, and Gabriel Watson of Lumberton, Texas and Alexandria and Edward Watson of Cedar Park, Texas. Charles was loved by his family and friends and will be dearly missed.
Charles served with honors as a Naval Radio Operator on the USS Kearsarge from 1964 to 1967 and was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he received the Bronze Star award for his service.
The family will receive friends at Faith and Family Funeral Home on Monday, January 6th from 11-1:00 p.m. followed by a graveside burial service at 2:00 p.m. on the family's land in Batson, Texas.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made in his name to the Vietnam Veterans of America.
