Bertie Mercer Kester Rogers

Bertie Mercer Kester Rogers, 97, of Hull, went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday October 23, 2013. She was a member of Batson Prairie Baptist Church. She was known as 'Mamo' by lots more than her grandchildren. She has always been a hard worker. She worked many hours as a volunteer in the PTA and in the children's departments in the churches she attended. She obtained her nursing degree at the age of 50 and worked in that capacity for 25 years. One of her greatest joys was seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She enjoyed embroidery, crochet, reading and baking. The best part of these activities was sharing the products she made. We will all forever have crocheted potholders and cross bookmarks!
She was preceded in death by her parents James and Mary Mercer; husbands, Gordon Francis Kester and John Edwin Rogers; 4 brothers; 3 sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Frances Kester and husband Ted of Hull; grandchildren, Donna Blanton and husband Randy of New Braunfels, Cindy Downs and husband Bo of Sour Lake, Gordon Graham and wife Kelly of Hull, Jody Sullivan and husband Jason of Sour Lake; great grandchildren, Jamie, Kathy, Caitlyn, Collin, Jordan, Rance, Tristan, BreAnne, Jacey and Grayson; great great grandchildren, Olivia, Kaden, Faith and Love; numerous nieces and nephews.
Her family will receive friends at Faith and Family Funeral Services Friday October 25, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A service of remembrance will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday October 26, 2013 at Batson Prairie Baptist Church, officiated by Reverend Lee Gruver. Internment will follow at Guedry Cemetery in Batson.
Serving as pallbearers will be Gordon Graham, Rance Graham, Jordan Haley, Bo Downs, Leslie Davis and Jason Sullivan. Honorary pallbearers are Collin Downs, Lesley Rogers, Clark Rogers and Randy Rogers.
