Barry Wilburn Sims, 66, of Hardin died Monday, March 20, 2017 at Liberty Dayton Regional Medical Center with his family by his side.
A service of remembrance will be held Friday March 24, 2017 at 6:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services with military honors.
The family will be receiving friends also on Friday March 24, 2017 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. also at Faith & Family.
Barry was born October 13, 1950 in Silsbee, TX, to B.W. Sims and Catherine Odom. He worked as a Safety Coordinator for P.S.C. in Deer Park. He had proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict.
Barry is preceded in death by his parents, B.W. Sims and Catherine Odom. Brother, Kenneth Sims; daughter, Sandri Lee Sims and brother-in-laws, Tim and Gary Echols.
He is survived by his step-mother, Pat Sims of Hardin; wife, Metzie Sims of Hardin; son, Larry D. West and wife Sheila of Michigan. Mom, Pat Mitchell of Liberty; daughter, Natalie Sims and husband Aamin Ali of Houston.
Brothers, Michael Sims of Angleton and Johnye McMurtry of Hull. Sisters, Tommye Sims of Hardin and Terrye Sims Skaines of Hardin.
Grandchildren, James Miller and wife Jessica, Elijah Sims, Paris Hall, Asif Nayah and Jacob Lee. Great grandchildren, James Dean, Ava Jade and Jayden Christopher.
