Archie Ray Wheeler, a devoted family man and humble individual, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at his home in Sour Lake, Texas. He was born on October 1,1937 in Sour Lake, where he spent his life surrounded by the community and the loved ones he cherished dearly.

Archie proudly served in the United States Airforce, where he was stationed in Hawaii. It was there that he met and fell in love with his wife, Dorothy Bee Wheeler. Together, they built a loving family and created a legacy defined by their devotion to one another and their children 

A man of simple pleasures, Archie found joy in fishing, hunting, gardening, helping others, woodcraft work, and watching western movies. His interests reflected the tranquility he sought in life, and the natural world brought him great happiness. He was revered not only for his interests but also for his unwavering love for his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Archie is survived by his daughter, Laura Samler and son in law, John Pauole; his brothers, Charles Wheeler, and Robert Wheeler; his sisters, Roxanne Wheeler, and Ellen Wheeler; and his grandchildren: Eric Martinez, Kachina Johnston, Chasity Shipman, Samson Samler, Savannah Simmons, and Joshua Samler. He also leaves behind 13 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom will carry forward his memory.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy Bee Wheeler; his parents, Nelson Edgebert Wheeler, and Katy Correne Walker; his children, Tony Martinez Jr. and Rozonna Johnston; his brother, JE Wheeler; and grandchildren Michael Martinez and Mark Martinez.

Archie Ray Wheeler's life was marked by modesty and deep familial bonds. His presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
